“I struggled with everything.”
Emma Raducanu’s candour was admirable. Reflecting on her first-round defeat to Anhelina Kalinina in the Qatar Open, the British tennis player put aside the platitudes that elite athletes are often forced to trot through, giving a stark assessment of her performance.
Her comments also contained some interesting observations about scheduling (a vital, but often-overlooked part of a psychologist’s remit, in some cases) and are part of this week’s news round-up, which you can read by scrolling down.
In this issue, I’ll also be running through the must-attend events of 2024 and giving readers a chance to submit their questions ahead of the upcoming Mind Room Members’ Q&A session.
